Sen. Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa, D-McAllen, a U.S. Marines combat veteran in Vietnam and a 27-year veteran of the Texas Legislature, on Friday, November 11, 2023, announced that he is filing for reelection for a new four-year term in the Texas Senate, representing District 20.

The Office of the Texas Governor on Thursday, October 26, 2023 – in an impressive showing statewide for the Rio Grande Valley – awarded Dr. Lidia Fonseca of McAllen, Christian Torres of Pharr, the Valley Association for Independent Living of McAllen, and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg, top honors for their dedication on behalf of Texans with disabilities, Gov. Greg Abbott recently announced.

With 14 state constitutional amendments to face Texas voters later this autumn, Futuro RGV – a group of citizen volunteers who provide information regarding issues and concerns in deep South Texas – will be hosting “Constitutional Amendments Forum 2023” through its Facebook page on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
